AntiLogic is a small deathmatch level suited to small/medium sized free for alls, team deathmatch or duel games created by Capture the Flag author Dave “Zoid” Kirsch, during his tenure at id over the 1999/2000 holiday season.

It features music by Sonic Mayhem (coming through a set of enormous speakers in its central hall), creators of the official Quake II soundtrack, in order to promote their unofficial Quake III: Arena soundtrack, “Q3 Arena Noise”. You can read more about the Quake soundtracks, both official and unofficial, and the artists that produced them in the music section here.

The level also features heavily in the Arena Noise promotional website, which is archived online in the mirrors section of this site, which includes copies of the official documentation and sites for the majority of the games in the Quake series and their expansions, sites covering engines, ports, total conversions and the work of other level designers, artists and development teams.

The design and texture style is a bit confused here, being somewhere between that of Vertical Vengeance and Dredwerkz, but with a little slime, lava and alchemical engravings of chinese dragons eating their tails in an ouroboros pattern thrown in for good measure. There are also billboards in a manner similar to those found in Quake Live with advertisements linking to the aforementioned Arena Noise promotional website.

There are five main sections to the level, a rocky outdoor area with lava pits on the floor containing the rocket launcher and yellow armour, the speaker room with the invisibilty powerup and megahealth, a red armour room, two slightly smaller indoor areas and a few connecting corridors that appear to have been lifted directly from DM12.

There's nothing particularly wrong with Antilogic, but it doesn't quite live up to the standards of id's own deathmatch levels, some of the rooms are a little off in their dimensions and uneven, but the gameplay is reasonably good and it's worth a look for small games.
